Women are some of the strongest and most important people in modern-day business. On May 19th, the owner of SavvyChic Design, Joanna, and I had the privilege of being exhibitors at the 22nd Women Leading Kentucky conference, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Our day was full of networking and laughs with fellow businesswomen in our state. It was extremely refreshing to see a room full of successful and glowing women, uplifting each other.

I have 3 highlights I am excited to share from this amazing experience!

Women supporting women - is the first highlight of our day. Our morning started early, but definitely not slowly! We quickly set up our exhibitor's table and were immediately enriched by a bustling environment. Amongst the complimentary breakfast, we began networking with some of the amazing ladies, learning all we could about their business ventures and how we could help them flourish. We met many successful business owners and possible clients. We were surrounded by amazing women that completely supported each other in their business and passionate ventures. It was refreshing to see so many smiling faces ready to create connections and friendships!

Stories of Success - WLK had impressive keynote speakers including Elle Smith, Miss Kentucky & Miss USA, and Pamela Brown, CNN anchor, and Senior Washington Correspondent. Both ladies being Kentucky natives made their speeches even more inspiring and beautiful, as they chronicled their lives and successes. It was so uplifting to hear both ladies describe the trials and tribulations that they fought through to reach success. Attendees were also provided with the ability to attend a seminar hosted by Michelle Coussens, owner of Plan B Consulting, and a workshop hosted by MaryAnn Gramig, CEO of AuthenticA Coaching and Consulting, allowing attendees to learn how to start their own success stories! We were fortunate to be able to attend a panel discussion featuring many successful women. The panelists included Karen Harbin, President, and CEO of Commonwealth Credit Union. Tawanda Owsley VP of Development for Hosparus Health. Kathy Love, President of St. Joseph East, and Jenny Warnick VP, International for Big Ass Fans. It was so exciting to hear these strong women discuss their steps to success, along with the highs and lows they experienced while building their careers.

Importance of team building - The WLK leadership team did such a great job at integrating fun and team building activities into the schedule. From a wonderful lunch paired with live music, where all attendees enjoyed delicious food and created friendships, to door prize drawings, The Price is Right style, where exhibitors provided awesome door prize gifts and drew business cards to determine the winner. The lucky winners yelled and ran up to the stage to the sound of The Price is Right music. The fun-filled interactive features of the day proved how important team-building exercises are, allowing attendees to form friendships and feel uplifted!

We would like to thank founder Janet Holloway and her amazing leadership team, Carol Siler, Sonia Laux, Jess Upchurch, Amy Sohner, and all the other members of the board and volunteers for hosting this important event. With SavvyChic Design, being an Asian-American, woman-owned business it was an honor to be included in the list of exhibitors and is provided with this great platform to share our message and hopefully inspire other women to reach for their dreams. We hope to attend Women Leading Kentucky again!
